"Volvo plans tests of 100 driverless cars in China"

The evolution in self-driving cars is terrible in my point of view.

People will become lazy and dependent on the car to do the driving,

If something went wrong, that would be "the end," and somebody would

freak out and assume it would be broken. It reminds me of the movie

Wall-E, where it's in the far future, we're all fat, and depend on the

robots to do everything for us. If we end up making cars self-driving,

then other things are going to become "self doing."

There's also the problem of making a mistake in the car design. It

would be a major setback because there would need to be design changes

and fixing it. Also, if you're late somewhere, what are you going to

do? Speed? Or just be even more late?

Everyone wouldn't want to have one, and that could create a problem

because of the differences in driving ability, but if everyone did

"drive" one of the cars, people wouldn't be able to drive "normal"

cars because they never learned how to. If you are not smart with

Technology, then that would be very terrible. If you have a disability

too, it could be good or bad.

I read the article "Volvo plans tests of 100 driverless cars in China," and the article is mainly about what the title indicates. Volvo designed a driverless car and wants to test it on public roads with local drivers. Since Volvo is a China-based company, they want to test it in China. They just don't know which city to test them in. Volvo claims, "[t]he sooner autonomous cars are on the roads, the sooner lives will begin to be saved."

In my opinion, I don't think that autonomous cars save many lives. There have been successful tests of multiple self-driving cars, but there are still so many things that can go wrong. Also, many people in my generation will have no need for any driving skill. Honestly, when I drive, I  would rather have a person behind the wheel than a bunch of wires and sensors.

I think the new driverless cars in China are not a good idea. In the

article, it says that the cars are being tested in the normal, everyday

setting of China roads. To me, that is not a good idea. I've seen New

York driving, and if it's anything close to that, it could be

disastrous.

I understand that the cars have a detecting system where it stops

whenever it gets close to something, but in busy roads, that isn't

always reliable. When there's a child not watching cars and doesn’t give the car enough time to reach, it might not end well. But then again, it could improve how many lives get taken away because of reckless driving. For people who are tired, are on a long road trip, and need to take a break but can't stop because of time, this might be a lifesaver for them. Despite this reason, I still think self-

driving cars should be tested out more before they hit the busy and

dangerous roads of China and everywhere else, or even better, let’s not even

break out the newest technology.

I read the article about the driverless cars, and I don't think they

should even have any trials to test them out. I think driverless cars

are unnecessary. Humans aren't that lazy that they need a driverless

car. Before you know it,everything is going to be automatic, and it

takes away the lessons you learn from experiencing things.

I feel like driverless cars would be expensive, and that's the last

thing somebody wants to spend their money on, when they can buy a

cheaper car and just drive it themselves. It's fine with me for other

countries to use them, but I don't want the United States to use them. If it is going to be tested, the trials should be held in a place where

everybody wants them.

I read the technology article about driverless cars. In a way, I think

that driverless cars would be cool. I also think they could be safer.

For example, if someone is drunk, they wouldn't have to worry about

driving or getting into a car crash. Also, if someone is texting, they can both get their texts or calls without having to worry about driving also. In a way, I'm sure that driverless cars could be a good idea.

On the other hand, I also think it could be dangerous, since all of

this would have to be done with technology, and sometimes, technology

gets bugs in the system, causing them to not work. There would have to be a

way to get back to the actual driving part in case anything does

happen to the technology and something goes wrong. If we

did have driverless cars, people probably wouldn't forget or keep learning how

to drive just in case that scenario did happen. I also feel like the

technology may be hard to work. For example, I know a couple of people

who aren't really tech-savvy. Also, people may not have enough money

for these cars or don't believe they would help. Overall, I'm not

entirely sure how the driverless cars will turn out.
